Podgórze & Schindler's Factory
🇵🇱 Kraków · Culture
Across the river from Kazimierz, Podgórze held the wartime ghetto; today Oskar Schindler's enamel factory houses Kraków's best museum — a walk-through history of the city under occupation, far broader than the film. Ghetto Heroes Square's 68 empty bronze chairs and the preserved ghetto wall fragments carry the memory outside the museum. The district itself, climbing to the Krakus Mound, is the city at its least touristed.

Popular, but locals still go — a good sign.
🕐 Best time: Museum at opening; mound at sunset
💡 Local tip: Schindler's Factory sells out — book online days ahead (Mondays are free but ticketed and gone fastest). Climb Krakus Mound at sunset after: the whole city below, usually just you and locals with dogs.
