Canal Saint-Martin
🇫🇷 Paris · Nature
Napoleon's shipping canal is now the 10th arrondissement's front porch: evening picnics on the cobbled banks, boules under the plane trees, boats rising through the double locks. Almost no monuments, no queues, no tickets — which is exactly the point. Bring a baguette and watch Paris go by.

Loved by locals, barely on the tourist radar.
🕐 Best time: Golden hour, Apr–Sep; Sunday afternoons
💡 Local tip: Do it like the locals: Du Pain et des Idées pastries (mornings, closed weekends), then the bank between Écluse des Récollets and the swing bridge around 6pm. Sunday = pedestrianised quays.
